Weep

The music coils in a soft, aching wave along the crest of my hip.

It beckons in soothing whispers deep in my consciousness,
My fingers trembling, reaching out to grasp gently,
Begging to hold onto the fragile melody.

Take me with you on this journey.

Sinew tensed to drop hips down with strike of the drums,
Dance with the lilting ribbon the melody plays out,
Shudders of ecstasy trickling down my spine,
And I am lost, gone from this world and this pain,

Light-years away from where you see me dancing.
