I am currently writing a story. There are two teasers in my gallery;
[link] (1st) and
[link] (2nd).
Currently I am reading several books - yes all at once - "The Sunrise Lands" by S.M. Stirling, "Iron Angel" by Alan Campbell, "The White Queen" by Philippa Gregory, and I am starting "The Secrets of Jin-Shei" by Alma Alexander and "The Year of the Flood" by Margaret Atwood. Yes. I am awesome like that.
Books I have recently finished:
"The Society of S" by Susan Hubbard
Review: A very thoughtful and elegant book about a young girl who learns about her mother's disappearance and her father's true identity. This book puts Twilight to shame without being overly supernatural or downright drippy/sappy/cliche. Very good read. I couldn't put it down until it was finished.
"Scar Night" by Alan Campbell
Review: Great book about a futuristic world that is ruled by religion and where angels are guardians/defenders of humans and gods aren't exactly benevolent and interested in loving the human race.
This book is a little slow in the beginning, and I had trouble getting into it at first. Once you start understanding the world and characters it picks right up and becomes a great read. I am reading the follow-up "Iron Angel" now, which is much more engaging.
"The Boleyn Inheritance" by Philippa Gregory
Review: Holy cow. GREAT book. Told from several different perspectives during the reign of Henry the 8th. This is the follow-up to "The Other Boleyn Girl", so if you have read that or seaw the movie, you will love this book.
"In Lucia's Eyes" by Arthur Japin
Review: Another great book that I couldn't put down until I was finished. I read this book in about 3 hours one evening, just to give you an idea. This is the story of one of Giacomo Casanova's lovers. I'm not going to give any more details. You'll just have to get it for yourself and find out.
